The car was purchased new in Ypsilanti, MI and was used at a local airport to ferry passengers from hangars to planes. It rarely saw real road use and was finally sold in 1977 to a local Ford auto worker. In 1977 the car had approximately 21,000 miles on it. The Ford guy drove it fairly regularly until 1979 putting 6000 additional miles on it. It was due for a brake job and the Ford guy couldn't figure out how to get the rear hubs off, so he parked it. He was transferred to a Ford plant outside of Kansas City in the early 1980s. He brought the car with him and parked it in a barn where it sat until 1998. Desiring to move back to his home in Michigan the Ford guy put it up for sale where it was spotted by Russ Williams. Russ is a big time model car enthusiast who happened to be building a replica of a 1960 Phoenix and needed reference photos. Russ found a 27,000 mile car with the original tires still on the ground and a virgin spare! The interior was covered in yellowed plastic seat covers and everything was there! Of course he ended up buying the car.

MANY THANKS to Ian and Ron (from this web site) for their (e-mail) assistance in getting this jewel back on the road!
