I purchased the car 5 years ago and have just finished a 14 month restoration
of the car. The restoration started out as just a fresh coat of paint and
a good tidy up but after stripping the paint I came across alot more work
than I bargained for. The car needed both rear quaters reworked and shaped
aswell as countless new metal welded into place. I also had to replace the
lefthand side gutter area on the roof and also 1 front fender. The car is
finished in 2pac dragonfly green and the interior was redone in green and
white. I also managed to source a set of fenderskirts and spinner hubcaps
from various kind fellow forward look enthusiasts. Engine is the standard
318 backed up bye the push button torqueflite. Brakes are also the power
equipped. This car carries a right hand drive Plymouth dashboard
with a Dodge steering wheel.
In Australia there were roughly 1000 Phoenix models sold for
1960. The parts for these cars were sent to Australia and were assembled
by Chrysler Australia in their South Australia Plant. The only real options
were power steering and optional heater. They were only available in the
four door sedan. Also you might know that all the rear indicator lenses are
orange. All Aussie cars carried the front and rear bumperets. Also all the
rear numberplate housings in the boot were widened for the larger numberplates
in Australia which were not very good jobs at all.
